How to Optimize a Small Exhibit Booth

Don't let a tiny booth at a trade show convince you that your display can't have a powerful presence. To take full advantage of a small booth, companies must think strategically about their small space and utilize every nook and cranny. All the while, they must ensure that their booth's appearance follows the current aesthetic trends of appearing accessible, minimal, and roomy.

By crafting a space that's inviting and sensically intriguing, you're ensuring your booth stands out to the crowd and brings in the most number of prospective clients.

The Do's

Employ Every Nook and Cranny

Don't overlook the power of a corner: they're valuable real estate and can be perfectly suited for more displays, messaging, or event storage to keep your space from looking cluttered.

Streamline your Design

Make sure the graphics you choose for your displays emulate a calm and minimal atmosphere. Using lighter colors, white space, and minimal text, will create the illusion of space. In contrast, darker hues and busier graphics can make a booth seem more cramped than it actually is.

Additionally, your lighting and flooring choices can help administer an illusion of roominess. Simple lighting will enhance the aspects of your display that you want prospects to see, and flooring can help delineate your space from the rest of the arena.

Make Sure the Brand Comes First

That being said, it's important to remember that your company's brand needs to come first. Put your contact information somewhere in plain sight and make sure any branding is prominent and noticeable.

Choose a Theme

Having a congruent theme in your decor outside of your brand can help bring your space together and make it seem more professional. Whether it's the company's latest project or a color design, use a visual link to improve every aspect of your booth.

Take Advantage of Virtual Space

As mentioned above, a minimal, uncluttered look is en mode in trade show events. By loading materials onto electronic kiosks and emailing pamphlets and brochures, you'll allow your counter space to display more valuable interactive features that will be more successful at drawing in clients.

Use All Sides of your Booth

Do you have space between your booth and the ceiling? Can attendees see both sides of your displays? Add hanging and double-sided elements to your booth to ensure you're maximizing all the available space you have to target customers and make your booth look more appealing.

Employ an Efficient Staff

When it comes to small booths, the best method for retaining customers is to make sure they have a positive face-to-face interaction with the employees working your display. A well-educated staff can free up booth space as they can answer questions that usually appear on display and make connections with attendees in the process. Having in-person interactions can also highlight the experience of your booth in an attendees' mind, making them more likely to follow up with you.

The Don'ts

When working in a very small space, any slight error can be incredibly obvious. Avoid using cheap decor and give your visual design some serious thought. Make sure anything on your display is informative, pleasing, and clear. Only utilize high-resolution graphics and don't cram as much copy as possible—make the amount of text in your small booth optimized.

Takeaways

Don't believe that a 10-by-10 or 10-by-20-foot exhibit can't have a big impact on the trade show floor. With the right design and strategy, your booth can compete with any other booth in the building and attract any amount of prospects to your company's exhibit. By maximizing the utility of your space, you'll maximize your return on your business's display.
