Challenging Trade Show Booth Spaces

October 10th, 2008

Ryan Cook – Client Services

Today we made the fabulous trek up to the Santa Ana Star Center install a rental displays several of our clients.  One of our long time clients has been renting display for such events for for over five years now and have been so successful that their display needs have grown.  The rental for this year’s trade show needed to fill a 10 x 40 space.

Here is an interesting thing to know about the Rio Rancho Home Show at the Santa Ana Star Center; the show takes place in the same rink the Albuquerque Scorpions hockey team plays on…meaning the area is in an oval shape. This presented a challenge to our I&D team, because our client’s 10X40 booth space was located at the end of the rink, which meant  their space was not a true 10X40, but more of an isometric triangle. Especially difficult was laying down puzzle carpeting to fit the booth space provided.

While Chris, went to set up the 10X10 booth for New Mexico Tint, I worked at making the carpeting fit into the area. I started by setting up a 10X10 section at the straightest end.  This was not too much of a problem , because this area was sectioned for a single booth size space. We placed a 10’ Nomadic Neptune into the space with a custom Laarhoven Counter to round out the look of the booth. I then moved on to the 10X30 main area. I had to adjust the carpet to fit the ever so dreadful angle that would come to haunt me as the day proceeded. I made the front of the booth start with a straight carpet line, leaving the back shorter in some parts and tucked up under the bleachers at others. Once the puzzle carpeting was laid, we could then move on to the 10X20 Nomadic Saturn display with the Case to Counter conversion kit, a Fabricounter to match, and finishing it off with a 10-Up Literature Stand. The good news is, we did find a great little cubby-hole within the bleachers to tuck away all the display cases.

It may have stumped us at first, but in the end, EXHIB-IT! conquered the day!

Moral of the story…installing booths in unusual spaces is for professionals only!
