Staying in Touch Following a Trade Show

The initial follow up with a client following a show is a vital part of the trade show process, but don’t stop there.

Some fresh ideas for following up with prospects include sending a nice to meet you note or calling and asking when they would like to meet. A quick thank you for stopping by our trade show booth email is a good ice breaker to be followed up with a phone call.

There are a lot of means and methods to stay in touch with customers and prospects.  Thank you or  thinking of you notes , birthday cards and the like give a special touch to follow-ups that help you develop a more personal relationship with clients.  Make special offers to your loyal customers, by advising them of sales in advance, or offering a special “percent off” their next order.

How do you bridge the gap and stand out in the crowd of follow up calls the prospect may receive following the call?  Think outside the box and make your follow up memorable.  Put your picture on the card, that will help them remember seeing you at the show.  Add a personal message to a note in your own handwriting, and be sure to add humor!  Celebrate their accomplishments! As Maya Angelou states “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
